In today’s world, semiconductor chips that power personal computers, televisions, and cellular phones are largely made from silicon. Newer semiconductor materials like Inlustra’s Gallium Nitride can do more than make electronic devices work: they can generate light very efficiently. While traditional devices emit red or yellow light, Gallium Nitride (or GaN) semiconductors are capable of producing blue, green, and white light. GaN is playing an increasing role in our daily lives, particularly in the form of light emitting diodes (LEDs) and laser diodes.
